MEMBERS of the Bible Way Church of God Seventh Day in Mineral Heights in Clarendon are in mourning following the death of police constable Shavane Davy in a motor vehicle crash on the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon Friday morning.
Donna Patterson, a member of the church, told the Jamaica Observer that Davy was a budding pastor who was well-loved.
“He was a vibrant member of our church who was recently ordained as a pastor. We all feel broken. His death has shaken up the church. We have to just hold the faith because the enemy is on the loose. The devil always attacks God’s people when there is a purpose in their life.
“He was a true worshipper like King David. He got along well with the young people and he had a good relationship with the brethren of the church. I got a call from my church sister who said she was scrolling on
TikTok and that was what she saw. The church is in mourning. It’s very sad,” Patterson shared.
Davy was assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
Reports are that Davy was driving a Toyota Premio motor vehicle on the highway around 5:00 am when he lost control of the vehicle in the vicinity of Swansea.
The vehicle crashed and overturned leaving Davy with multiple injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Island Traffic Authority has reported that as of July 10, 160 lives have been lost in 145 fatal crashes on the island’s roads.
This represented a 33.3 per cent decrease in road fatalities compared to the same period in 2025.
