Nearly four million dollars in signage fees has been taken in by the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), which credits the haul to a compliance outreach drive.
By moving its operations into plazas and commercial centres, the Corporation reports that it reached 140 businesses and saw compliance climb from nine percent to 53 percent. The sum collected stood at $3.96 million.
Speaking at the KSAMC monthly council meeting on Tuesday, Deputy Mayor of Kingston Lorraine Dobson said the programme sharpened awareness of the rules and lifted compliance, which in turn strengthened fee recovery from advertisers and property owners. She stressed that face-to-face engagement with businesses remains essential.
