
Police shoot man dead after early-morning clash in Ballard's Valley
An unnamed man died after an alleged clash with officers at Ballard's Valley Junction in St. Elizabeth yesterday.
Authorities have not disclosed who he was. According to accounts of the incident, officers arrived about 3:30 a.m. to investigate a break-in at a Ballard's Valley minimart and came under challenge from armed men.
Exchange of gunfire followed, and one of the men was hit. He was rushed to Black River Hospital and declared dead on arrival or shortly after.
The case has been passed to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) as well as the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
