Kingston, Jamaica, Wednesday, June 10, 2026: The Government of Jamaica, acting through the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, says its representatives met today with the Jamaica Police Federation for further discussions on salary negotiations for members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
According to the Ministry, the session was approached constructively, with the Government and the Federation each setting out their positions on the issues being negotiated. Although the talks were detailed and useful, both sides agreed that more meetings are needed to deal carefully and responsibly with matters still to be settled.
The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service says it is continuing its review of the significant work done by the JCF as reflected in the Technical Framework Agreement. It also said it will answer the Federation by Wednesday, June 17, 2026, on matters that are not affected by that agreement.
The Government says it remains prepared to continue discussions with the Jamaica Police Federation in good faith. It said any settlement should acknowledge the important duties carried out by members of the Constabulary in protecting the public and supporting national security, while staying in line with the Government’s fiscal framework and its responsibilities to all public sector employees.
The Ministry of Finance and the Public Service says additional information will be shared as the negotiations move forward.
