Live N' Loud Thursdays Builds Momentum as Kingston's Monthly Live Music Platform

Recording artiste Garnett 'Papiito' Ferguson and musical director Jhevaughn Murphy conceived Live N' Loud Thursdays as a steady outlet for genuine live music in Kingston. Andrew 'Anju Blaxx' Myrie brought the idea forward through BlackState Studio, working with resident outfit One State Band and veteran sound system Renaissance Sound. The monthly programme has quickly grown into one of the capital's standout live entertainment draws and is playing a central role in the revival of Kingston's on-stage music culture.

The show runs on the last Thursday of each month at 19 Churchill Avenue. Attendance has climbed sharply, with a committed crowd of fans, industry insiders, musicians, producers and creatives who value real performances and Jamaica's deep musical roots. As talk spreads across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean about protecting and growing spaces for live music, Live N' Loud has taken on added weight as a stage that honours musicianship and gives both seasoned and up-and-coming acts a chance to perform before live crowds.

Since the series started, the bill has featured strong sets from Sizzla, Bugle, Jahvillani, Turbulence, Jemere Morgan and Kevyn Voicemail. It has also put newer names in front of audiences, among them Papiito, Sobah and Ecina.

A hallmark of each night is the Open Mic segment, which fans now look forward to at every staging. That slot gives budding artistes, instrumentalists, vocalists, deejays, spoken-word acts and other creatives room to test their material before live crowds and people in the business, and it has often led to useful links, guidance and career steps.

Beyond a once-a-month concert, Live N' Loud has evolved into a creative meeting point where performers are urged to express themselves openly, sharpen their skills and link with peers in a setting built around authentic live sound.

With crowds still growing and energy rising at each show, Live N' Loud Thursdays — backed by Legend Beer and One RPM — is helping to chart the direction of Jamaica's live entertainment landscape and strengthening Kingston's standing as the cultural pulse of Caribbean music.
