Marathon Insurance Brokers sponsors Jamaica’s record Commonwealth and CAC Games push

2 min readKingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Marathon Insurance Brokers (MIB) has again pledged strong support for Jamaican sport, stepping forward as a principal sponsor behind the nation’s biggest squad yet for the Commonwealth Games and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

Company representatives stood with Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) leaders, competitors and other partners on Thursday at the formal kick-off of Jamaica’s dual-games drive, set to unfold from late July through early August.

Athletes will contest 27 disciplines, among them eSports — a milestone the organisers have framed as unprecedented for the country.

After the ceremony, Joseth Brown, Marathon Insurance Brokers’ Business Development, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, told journalists the firm was glad to share in a landmark moment for local sport.

“We are happy to be a part of this history in the making. So, we’re happy that we’re on board for this epic event. Twenty-seven disciplines that we’re participating in, and it’s the first in Jamaica. We’re very happy about it,” Brown said.

She noted that MIB has long channelled resources into projects that advance national progress, and that sport remains central to its corporate social responsibility work.

“We continue to support Jamaica and we continue to support athletics in Jamaica. It’s our heart,” said Brown.

Brown said the company’s outlook rests on opening doors and putting resources into the next generation through sport.

“We have a foundation of investing in the future and so sports is one of those disciplines that allows you to invest in the future,” Brown argued.

She also linked the principles that have shaped Marathon Insurance Brokers from its start with the traits Jamaican athletes show abroad.

“Marathon is built on support, it’s built on resilience, it’s built on love. It’s the magnanimous heart of Marathon Insurance Brokers and our founder, Richard Burgher, who continues to propel us to participate in these ventures,” she argued.

Brown closed with a message for Team Jamaica ahead of the two overseas assignments.

“Go with heart,” she stressed.

Officials anticipate Jamaica will send its biggest group of athletes yet to the twin championships, covering a wide slate of events. Adding eSports signals how the national programme is widening, pairing newer contests with the island’s established sporting strengths.
