Licensed Gun Owner Maurice Fennel Found Dead in St Ann Amid Girlfriend Murder Probe
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Maurice Alphanso Fennel, a 50-year-old licensed gun owner from Cambridge in St James, has been found dead in Brown's Town, St Ann, while under investigation as the key suspect in a murder case.
Investigators believe the injury that killed him may have been self-inflicted. Observer Online sources said the Manchester Division had been probing Fennel in connection with the murder of a missing woman with whom he was believed to have had a relationship.
Reports are that Fennel went to Brown's Town about 9:00 pm on Wednesday and stayed at the home of a couple he knew. The couple were said to be friends whom he visited from time to time.
It is alleged that before his death, Fennel sent farewell messages by text to friends and members of his church group, saying he intended to take his own life. A Glock pistol was recovered where his body was found. There were also unconfirmed reports Thursday morning that the missing woman's body had been located.
