Labour Ministry, LMIS and ITEL set for large BPO hiring event in Kingston on 15 May

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS), acting through its Jamaica Labour Market Information System (LMIS), is collaborating with ITEL, a firm with Caribbean origins that delivers business process outsourcing services, to run an extensive employment fair on Friday, 15 May. The venue is 22 Chalmers Avenue, Kingston, with doors open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Organisers expect hundreds of attendees who wish to review openings in an industry whose footprint is swelling rapidly around the region.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dione Jennings, said the programme sits squarely inside the Ministry's mandate of "providing opportunities, stability and social protection," adding that the widening BPO field still underpins new payroll slots and remains a strong pillar in Jamaica's wider development agenda.
Interested workers should upload résumés to the LMIS site at lmis.gov.jm, using the Events section, or e-mail them to [email protected]. Same-day arrivals without an online sign-up will be admitted.
Attendees should carry a valid identification card, their Tax Registration Number (TRN), their National Insurance Scheme (NIS) card, and proof of qualifications.
The MLSS maintains that it is working to open routes into steady paid work for Jamaicans, and frames the ITEL arrangement as another strand of state action to widen job uptake and equip people for substantive roles.
