Mona Prep lead Day One relay qualifiers at 2026 JISA Prep Champs
Day One of the 2026 JISA National Prep Schools Track and Field Championships unfolded on Thursday, June 11, at the National Stadium in Kingston, with prep-school athletes contesting 100m, 150m, 200m, hurdles, relay and field events.
In the Class Two girls’ 100m preliminaries, several athletes booked semi-final places, including Knight of St. Catherine Prep, Abigail Sinclair of Stella Maris, Roberts of Belair and the defending champion from Mount St. Joseph. The Class Two boys’ 100m also produced strong runs, with Jaden Allison moving to the top of the early standings after a 13.86-second clocking, while other heat winners included Lucas Young of St. Peter and Paul and Liam Williams of Stella Maris.
The younger sprinters also advanced through busy preliminary rounds. Class Three girls’ 100m qualifiers included Sebas Allison, Arena Sky Winter, Alisa Palmer, Aliana Green, Leah Haye, Desiree James, Kelisia Bennett and Kelly. In the Class Three boys’ 100m, Justin Stills of Stella Maris was listed among the leading qualifiers after 14.69 seconds, with Deco Dixon of Lannaman’s Prep and several others also moving on.
There was further qualifying in the 150m and 200m events. Janine Knight of St. Catherine Prep led the Class Two girls’ 150m qualifiers in 21.58 seconds, while St. Andrew Prep’s Zamir Byfield topped the Class Two boys’ 150m list at 20.87. In Class One 200m action, Paris White of Stella Maris led the girls’ qualifiers, and Melbourne of Belair Prep was announced as the fastest boys’ qualifier with 26.61 seconds.
Relay competition closed the day’s track programme. Mona Prep won the first girls’ 600m sprint medley heat in 1:25.48, while St. Teresa Prep later secured another automatic final place in 1:29.86. Mona Prep also won the opening boys’ 800m sprint medley heat in 2:01.24. Mineral Heights Christian Academy later ran alone in a 4x200m mixed relay time trial but finished in 2:25.79, outside the stated qualifying mark of 2:02.95.
