A 22-year-old woman died and several other people were injured Monday after a three-vehicle crash along the Rose Hall main road.

The deceased has been identified as Bianca Wallace, who was reportedly working on a project in the area. Reports indicate that Wallace was standing beside a tractor when she was struck and dragged by a motor vehicle during the collision.

The crash involved a Toyota Hiace minibus, a Toyota Rush and a tractor that was being used for work connected to a pipeline exercise. Reports are that the minibus came into contact with the tractor, then hit the Toyota Rush. Wallace was struck during the incident and later died from her injuries.

Several people travelling in the minibus were hurt, including two female students. The injured were taken to hospital, but their conditions were not immediately known.

Personnel from the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the Jamaica Constabulary Force responded to the scene. The collision caused a heavy traffic pile-up along the corridor, and police converted one side of the dual carriageway to accommodate two-way movement after a lane was closed.
