Jamaica Insolvency Supervisor's Office Receives ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certification

2 min readKingston

The Office of the Supervisor of Insolvency (OSI) has taken a further step toward stronger public service by securing ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Quality Management System (QMS).

Deputy Supervisor of Insolvency and Attorney-at-Law Chevánt Hamilton accepted the certificate of conformity on the office's behalf at a recent presentation held at the National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ) in Kingston.

In an interview with JIS News, Mr. Hamilton said the award "recognises that the OSI has established and implemented a Quality Management System that conforms to internationally accepted standards for quality management and continual improvement."

He noted that the certified scope includes handling insolvent cases and upholding an insolvency framework that responds effectively to the needs of the country.

"Through documented policies, procedures and performance monitoring, the OSI continues to strengthen regulatory oversight, improve operational efficiency and preserve the integrity of the country's insolvency framework," Mr. Hamilton shared.

Commenting on what the milestone means for the regulator, he said the certification goes beyond meeting a global benchmark.

"It affirms the OSI's commitment to maintaining internationally recognised quality management practices. More importantly, it reflects our dedication to continually improving the way we serve our stakeholders and fulfil our statutory mandate under the Insolvency Act," he said.

The OSI's QMS rests on a policy pledge to go beyond stakeholder expectations, meet legal and regulatory obligations, and build a workplace culture centred on quality and ongoing improvement.

The office has also set measurable targets aimed at better day-to-day performance and higher stakeholder satisfaction. Those targets include issuing trustee licences on time, keeping statutory certificates accurate, and raising customer satisfaction levels.

The OSI thanked the National Certification Body of Jamaica for support during the certification journey and praised staff members whose combined work helped deliver the result.

As Jamaica's insolvency regulator, the OSI said it will keep pursuing high standards of quality, transparency, and accountability while working to improve the services it provides to the public.
