KINGSTON, Jamaica — Shoppers at Coronation Market in Kingston are seeing some relief at the stalls this week. Vendors say several everyday items cost less, even as drought continues to squeeze farmers in parishes islandwide.
Not every price has fallen. A dozen bananas still sells for $1,200. Elsewhere, though, the board looks kinder: tomato is $100 a pound, onion $200, Scotch bonnet pepper $200, Irish potato $180, and sweet potato $150.
