Jamaica manufacturing producer prices rise 2.6% as mining edges higher
Jamaica's manufacturing producers lifted prices by an average 2.6 per cent in April 2026, while operators in mining and quarrying posted a smaller 0.6 per cent increase. The manufacturing rise was tied mainly to higher index readings for 'Food, Beverages & Tobacco', up 0.2 per cent, and 'Refined Petroleum Products', which advanced 11.7 per cent.
For mining and quarrying, the modest monthly increase was driven chiefly by a 0.7 per cent rise in the 'Bauxite Mining & Alumina Processing' index. Between April 2025 and April 2026, however, the point-to-point index for mining and quarrying fell 7.1 per cent, largely reflecting a 7.5 per cent decline in that bauxite and alumina category.
Manufacturing moved in the opposite direction over the same 12-month period, with its point-to-point index rising 8.2 per cent. The annual gain was mainly linked to increases in 'Food, Beverages & Tobacco', up 3.1 per cent, and 'Refined Petroleum Products'.
