Harbour View knifepoint hold-ups land Kingston taxi man in court

1 min readKingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police have charged a 27-year-old taxi driver over claims he used a knife to rob two women in separate hold-ups.

Dennis Miller, also called “Brown Man,” who gives a Kingston 2 address, faces two counts of robbery with aggravation plus a charge of receiving stolen property. The allegations stem from two robberies reported in Kingston 17 on July 8.

According to the Elletson Road Police, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. that day Miller approached the women while armed with a knife and took their belongings in two distinct confrontations — one on Windy Way and the other on Cove Avenue, both in Harbour View, Kingston 17.

After the second hold-up, witnesses saw him get into a grey Daihatsu Mira ES and leave. The haul reportedly included two handbags with two cellphones, $33,150 in cash, and other personal effects.

Once both women lodged reports, officers mounted a search. Within a short period they stopped a car matching the description, with Miller at the wheel. Items taken from the victims were recovered when the vehicle was searched.

Miller was taken into custody and formally charged on Friday, July 10, after a question-and-answer interview held with his lawyer present. A court date is still being arranged.
