Rising Jamaican artiste Jahmari drops new single No Days Off

Emerging Jamaican singer Jahmari appeared on TVJ Daytime Live to promote his new single, No Days Off, and spoke about the life experiences driving his music.

Jahmari said he began writing songs in grade six and cut his first recording by grade eight. He told the hosts his work draws on pain, determination, love, and lived experience, but he does not write with the aim of sounding relatable. He sings what he is going through, he said, and listeners then find themselves in the songs.

Family is central to that approach. He pointed to his mother’s sacrifices as a single parent who slept only a few hours, rose early, and worked until night. Becoming a father himself has also shaped him. Having grown up without a dad, he said he wants to change that outcome for his daughter.

A collaboration with artiste 450 marked a turning point. Hosts noted it was 450’s first team-up with an upcoming act. Jahmari said the spotlight from 450 and support from the wider team, including Falcon, changed his music journey and how people see him — as a person, not only as a performer. The grind was harder before that boost, he added.

He closed the segment by performing No Days Off. Online, he said fans can find him as JamariimusIq — Jahmari with two i’s, then “musiq,” using a Q for style rather than a conventional spelling.

Despite nursing a cold during the interview, Jahmari said he felt ready to deliver the track and keep putting energy into his craft.
