RJR Gleaner binds North Street Kingston campus sale to LP Azar Limited

KINGSTON — RJR Gleaner Communications Group has undertaken to sell its holding at 7 North Street in Kingston, long linked to the Jamaica Gleaner news brand, to LP Azar Limited. A Tuesday bulletin said executives had executed binding purchase terms covering the main structure, bordering plots, and linked parking.
“The transaction forms part of the group’s broader strategic restructuring and modernisation initiatives aimed at optimising its operational footprint, improving efficiency across its commercial operations and enhancing long-term shareholder value,” a news release said.
Spokespersons said relinquishing the downtown footprint should help advance the wider programme of pulling functions onto the Lyndhurst Road campus where the Gleaner now produces from, while freeing capacity to channel funds into flagship print, digital, and broadcast units. The file still faces standard closing tests, with parties aiming to conclude inside 45 days.
