1 min readSt. James

ST JAMES, Jamaica — A police constable reportedly died by suicide at the Maroon Town Police Station in St James on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Constable M. Francis, otherwise known as “Teddy.”

Reports indicate that shortly before 9:00 a.m., colleagues discovered the constable inside the station barracks suffering from a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead.

Senior Superintendent of Police Eron Samuels, who heads the St James Police Division, confirmed the incident but said he was unable to provide additional details at the time.

Information reaching local media suggests that Constable Francis had been facing disciplinary action prior to his death. However, investigators have not yet established whether the matter was connected to the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the constable’s death remain under investigation by the relevant authorities.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm, seek immediate support from a trusted person, mental health professional, or emergency services.
