Rude Boy Original pulls suggestive billboards after public outcry in Kingston and St. Catherine

1 min readKingston

Kimone Witter reports that executives behind Rude Boy, the company promoting the Rude Boy Original alcoholic drink tied to recent public anger, confirm that every disputed billboard has been taken down.

In a brief public notice, the firm said it had heard the complaints and stressed that it never meant to upset anyone.

Outrage had built around outdoor ads placed in parts of Kingston and St. Catherine that marketed Rude Boy Original. Boards went up in Rockfort in East Kingston and along the Spanish Town Bypass close to Food for the Poor.

The creative showed a woman's legs lifted upward with a bottle of the spirit placed between them—a layout many commuters, parents, and people on social media called crude and unfit for roadside display.

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation said the Rockfort sign came down within twenty-four hours once officials were alerted.
