Sagicor Life Junior and Mentor Tennis Classic returns Saturday at Ligoni Club

The second staging of the Sagicor Life Junior and Mentor Tennis Classic begins on Saturday at the Ligoni Club, with matches scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.

The event brings junior players together with senior competitors as part of a mentorship and learning programme for young athletes at the club.

The format is meant to give juniors practical experience alongside more established players while building relationships within the tennis community.

Not every junior has parents who play the sport, and some young athletes need extra encouragement and backing. The classic was introduced partly to help close that gap by giving youngsters a wider circle of support.

Senior members are expected to watch the juniors, get to know them during the event, and turn out for them at other tournaments. That ongoing presence is a central reason the competition is being held again.

Keeping the tournament on the calendar is intended to sustain that network of guidance and encouragement for junior players as they develop.
