Lemar Whyte, the 27-year-old Rae Road, Kingston 11 man also known as “Lamphead”, has been charged in connection with a daytime shooting on Cricket Way in St Andrew.
Police have laid charges of Wounding with Intent, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
According to the Hunts Bay Police, the incident happened about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Investigators say a man was seated in a white Nissan AD Wagon on Cricket Way when Whyte allegedly went up to the vehicle and fired at him.
The motorist was hit, while the shooter left the scene. He was taken to hospital and admitted in stable condition.
Detectives from the St Andrew South Policing Division later began what police described as an intensive probe. The investigation, police say, resulted in Whyte being taken into custody.
Whyte was officially charged on Friday, May 29, after a question-and-answer session with investigators. His court date is being arranged.
