St James Murders Climb – Commanding Officer for the St James Police Division, SSP Eron Samuels, says murders in the parish have climbed to 34 since the start of the year, up from 23 during the same period in 2025.
According to SSP Samuels, 12 of the murders resulted from interpersonal conflicts, 11 were gang-related, nine were linked to criminal activity, and two remain under investigation.
Despite the increase, police say they are stepping up efforts to prevent further violence and keep the parish’s murder tally below the 58 homicides recorded for all of 2025.
SSP Samuels added that law enforcement will continue working with community members and stakeholders to reduce violent crime across the St James Division.
