Star Wars Voice Actor Tom Kane Dies at 64 After Stroke Complications
Tom Kane, the celebrated voice performer whose credits included Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Professor Utonium in The Powerpuff Girls, has died. He was 64.
His agent said Kane died yesterday, May 18, at a hospital in Kansas City from complications linked to a stroke he had in 2020. Relatives were with him when he passed.
Kane entered the voice-acting field when he was only 15 and went on to build a long list of memorable screen roles. In the Star Wars franchise, his work included Admiral Ackbar, Boba Fett, Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda.
Audiences also knew his voice as Professor Utonium and HIM in The Powerpuff Girls, Darwin in The Wild Thornberrys, Mr. Herriman in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Woodhouse in Archer.
After the 2020 stroke, Kane left voice acting. Before that, he had named Yoda as the part he loved most, while saying Professor Utonium was his next favourite because, like the character, he was "a big dorky dad."
