Tina Clayton returned to the start list and booked her place in the women's 100 metres final on Day 2 of the JAAA/PUMA National Junior and Senior Championships, overcoming administrative confusion before the semi-finals.

Clayton, the world silver medallist and Jamaica's second-fastest woman over the distance this season with 10.85, had been left off earlier heat sheets despite appearing on a revised list for semi-final two. Athletes had seen their assignments for roughly a day before officials confirmed her reinstatement for semi-final one on her third attempt to reach the track.

Six runners contested the opening semi-final. Clayton lined up in lane three, with Lavanya Williams in lane four, Ashanti Moore in lane five, and Lowe of GC Foster in lane eight.

From the gun, Clayton broke cleanly and led early, with Williams staying close. Moore pressed on the outside as the pair fought for the two automatic qualifying places. Clayton appeared to ease through the closing metres, yet still held second as Williams edged her on the line.

Williams crossed in 11.19 seconds for the win in what commentators described as a breakout season. Clayton clocked 11.23, with Moore third in 11.24 and Lowe fourth in 11.51. Moore must await the remaining semi-final times to learn whether she advances.

Clayton's measured finish suggested she was preserving energy for the final after the pre-race disruption.
