Police seek Trench Town man after woman killed in Wilton Gardens shooting
Kingston West police have named a 21-year-old Trench Town resident as a person of interest in the Thursday-night killing of a woman in Wilton Gardens, saying the attack grew out of a domestic clash between two families.
The victim has been identified as Tatiana Watkins, 27. Officers say she was seated on a chair along the sidewalk when two gunmen rushed her and opened fire, striking her in the head and upper body. She later died in hospital.
When journalists toured the community on Friday afternoon, residents directed them to the spot where the shooting occurred. People who declined to appear on camera said the killing had broken their hope of a quiet summer.
Police have identified Everald Hall, 21, also known as Papito, as a person of interest and have called on him to present himself at the Denham Town Police Station by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
According to investigators, trouble between the Watkins household and another family flared on Sunday, July 19. Police were summoned then, but residents say the conflict was never settled. Watkins was slain less than a week afterward.
Locals report heavier patrols since the killing, and three police vehicles were seen near the scene during Friday’s visit. With the Trench Town Police Station close by, some residents say stronger ties with officers would make it easier to tip them off about looming threats.
