Kingston court sets $300,000 bail for district constable facing ganja and contraband charges
The Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday fixed bail at $300,000 for district constable Shemar Williams, who is accused of bringing prohibited articles into a correctional facility.
Williams faces charges of ganja possession, ganja dealing, and introducing banned items into a prison. Attorney-at-law Donahue Martin applied for his release before Parish Court Judge Peter Wilson, who granted bail subject to conditions.
The case will be heard again on October 9, 2026.
According to the allegations, Williams was working at Horizon Correctional Centre on June 8, 2026, when he was searched and officers reportedly recovered a quantity of marijuana on him. He was later arrested and charged.
