KINGSTON, Jamaica:Murder Probe Suspect Found Dead — A licensed firearm holder who was being investigated in connection with a murder case was found dead in Brown’s Town, St Ann, on Thursday morning in what investigators believe may have been a suicide.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Maurice Alphanso Fennell of Cambridge, St James.

Police sources indicate that Fennell was the main suspect in an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Manchester Police Division into the disappearance and suspected murder of a woman with whom he was reportedly involved in a relationship.

Reports are that Fennell arrived in Brown’s Town around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and stayed with friends in the community, whom he was known to visit from time to time.

Investigators say that before his death, Fennell allegedly sent a series of text messages to friends and members of his church group, bidding them farewell and indicating that he intended to take his own life.

His body was later discovered with what police suspect was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A Glock pistol, for which he was licensed, was recovered at the scene.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicate that the body of the missing woman was also discovered on Thursday morning. Police have not yet officially identified the body or confirmed any connection to the ongoing investigation.

The matter remains under investigation.
