
Kingston man, 37, faces motor vehicle theft and property damage charges
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police have charged a 37-year-old Kingston resident over the theft of a Toyota Fielder taken from Cortina Avenue in Kingston 13 between Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10.
The accused is Oniel White of Tower Avenue, Olympic Way, Kingston 11. He faces counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and malicious injury to property linked to the episode.
According to police accounts, the car disappeared from Cortina Avenue, Kingston 13, sometime between 9:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, and 2:00 am on Friday, July 10. The owner reported the loss, and officers later located the vehicle while looking into the case.
Inquiries continued, and on Sunday, July 12, the St Andrew South Operational Support Team carried out an operation that led to White’s arrest. He was questioned with his lawyer present and then formally charged. A date for him to appear in court is still being set.
