Construction Worker Arrested, Charged With Rape of Child in Hanover

1 min readHanover

Law enforcement authorities in Hanover have charged a 20-year-old construction worker with rape following an alleged sexual assault on a young child at a home in the parish.

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, April 12, at approximately 11 p.m. Police say the man forced entry into a residential property and dragged the minor into a room, where he began assaulting her.

The attack was interrupted when a relative of the child walked in on the alleged assault and raised an alarm, according to investigators. The suspect fled the location immediately afterward.

A report was subsequently filed with the police, who launched an investigation that led to the man being tracked down and taken into custody. He was formally charged in relation to the incident.

The accused is expected to make his first appearance before the Hanover Parish Court today.
