Week.day marks chart breakthrough as Aidonia's Like How Yuh Feel tops one million streams
Dancehall producer Jahvanie "Week.day" Morrison is marking a standout moment in his career as Aidonia's Like How Yuh Feel keeps gaining ground across the Caribbean and further afield.
The track, which dropped on May 22, has now passed one million cumulative streams on digital platforms and has logged strong showings on Apple Music charts. It hit number one in the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Grenada, St Kitts and St Lucia, and reached number two in Antigua, Anguilla, Trinidad and Barbados. In Jamaica, it sits at number 12 on the Kingston Top 25 chart, underscoring how well the song has been received by dancehall audiences across the region.
For Week.day, the numbers cap years of creative ties with Aidonia. Recording artiste Aidonia
"This is not my first time working with him, but it's the first time releasing one of the many projects we have worked on," Week.day said.
The producer said the partnership grew organically through shared links in the industry, including Aidonia's connection with 450.
"The connection has been there for quite a while through him and 450 connecting. We've crossed paths at a lot of concerts and music festivals, so that's where it started from until we started making some studio connects," he said.
Week.day described the studio work as driven by chemistry and fresh ideas. He built the riddim and forwarded it to Aidonia, who later outlined how he wanted the record to sound.
"Working with Aidonia is good vibes. Positive energy, the work ethic is crazy. I created the riddim, sent it to him, and he made me hear the idea one day at a music festival. From there we worked on the mix, release, arrangement, etcetera," he said.
As streams and chart positions kept climbing, Week.day said he valued the public response.
"It's great to see that when you put out music the fans love it. Seeing it chart number one in so many countries was a great feeling," he said.
He pointed to steady output and patience as pillars of how he works.
"My formula is to always create even when you don't feel like it. Keep working and let the emotions flow through the music, and always be patient," Week.day said.
With Like How Yuh Feel still riding momentum, Week.day said more music is on the way. His Super Glue Riddim already includes tracks with 450 and Silk Boss, and he indicated that other big-name collaborators will be named soon. He also flagged an upcoming single with Jamarii featuring 450, which he said will mark an important step for Jamarii.
