Yaksta’s The Microphone Saved Me Lands at Number Three on US iTunes Reggae Chart
Jamaican recording artiste Yaksta has taken his sophomore album, The Microphone Saved Me, to number three on the United States iTunes reggae albums chart — the Bush Lawd’s best commercial showing on the platform so far.
The placement puts him between Bob Marley & The Wailers’ enduring compilation Legend at number two and Capleton’s Heights of Fire at number four.
Among reggae fans, music commentators and cultural tastemakers, the independent release has become one of this year’s most discussed projects, noted for its direct lyricism, Rastafari consciousness and roots-led production.
Yaksta first issued the 15-track set on June 15 to his core supporters through his own platform, YakstaWorld.com. The album is moving along a route that has grown rare in today’s music industry.
