Azaria Thompson, who said she attends Excelsior Community College, has encouraged others to consider giving blood after deciding to donate herself.
Thompson said she chose to give blood on the day of the recording because she believes donation is a meaningful and responsible act. She pointed out that the need for blood can arise unexpectedly, including for someone a donor may personally know.
She said blood donation can make a real difference and urged others to come forward and take part.
