The Government has started a broad review of Zones of Special Operations to measure how well the security initiative has worked where it is now in place. ZOSOS currently operate in seven areas: Denham Town in West Kingston; Norwood and Mount Salem in St. James; Greenwich Town, Parade Gardens and August Town in St. Andrew; and Savanna-la-Mar in Westmoreland.
The study is being financed through grant support from the Inter-American Development Bank, with findings expected by July. National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang said the work should give the Government evidence on the programme’s impact and help policymakers use the information to strengthen public benefit, citizen security, peace and long-term development.
