JFF Mourns Allan Skill Cole, Former Reggae Boy and Cultural Figure

Kingston, Jamaica — September 10, 2025

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has expressed deep sympathy to relatives, friends, and the wider football community following the death of former national player Allan “Skill” Cole. Cole died on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the age of 74.

Over a long career, Cole represented Jamaica with distinction. He played for the Atlanta Chiefs in the United States in 1968 and for Nautico F.C. in Brazil in 1972. In local competition, he made his name with Real Mona, Boys’ Town, and Santos Football Clubs.

His work reached beyond the pitch. During the 1970s, Cole served as tour manager for Bob Marley and The Wailers, linking his sporting profile to a wider place in Jamaica’s cultural life.

Interim General Secretary of the JFF, Mr. Roy Simpson, said: “It was only on Sunday that we made arrangements for him to attend last night’s World Cup Qualifier at the National Stadium. To now hear of his passing is heartbreaking. We will miss his presence at the office, though we know his spirit will continue to guide us. Allan ‘Skill’ Cole was an outstanding ambassador for Jamaica. He represented us with distinction and always made us proud to be Jamaican. His attitude, leadership, and determination, both on and off the pitch, are examples to emulate. He will be deeply missed.”

The federation said Jamaica has lost a widely respected figure whose contributions to football and culture will be remembered for years to come.
