A 15-year-old pupil at Port Antonio High School is being held by police after a man died from stab wounds on Foreshore Road in Port Antonio, Portland, on Monday afternoon.
Sources say an argument flared up close to 4:00 p.m. among several schoolboys who were reportedly gambling behind a sanitary facility near the town's bus park.
Investigators state that three of the boys left the area and later came back with three adults. One of the men was identified as 45-year-old Jeremy "Tarzan" Ferguson.
The group is said to have confronted and set upon the teenager.
Amid the scuffle, the student is alleged to have produced a knife and stabbed Ferguson. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The teenager was then placed in police custody while enquiries proceed.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch in Port Antonio are working to piece together what led to the fatal encounter.
