JamaicaEye technology has assisted investigators assigned to the Kingston Eastern Policing Division in charging a man, who is alleged to have stolen a motor vehicle on Van Street, Rollington Town, Kingston 2, between Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1.
He is Demar Brown, a 22-year-old mechanic of Cinnamon Crescent, Kingston 11. He has been charged, and his court date is being finalised.
Reports from the police are that on Sunday, May 31, at about 11:45 p.m., a man parked and securely locked a 2019 grey Nissan Sylphy motor car, valued at approximately JMD$2.8 million, belonging to his female companion, at their gate before retiring to bed. The following morning, shortly after 8:00 a.m., the man reportedly received several notifications from his bank indicating that his debit card had been used.
When he checked outside, he discovered that the vehicle, which contained three of his debit cards, had been stolen. A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, detectives discovered that Brown, the owner of a grey Honda Grace motor car, allegedly used one of the complainant’s debit cards at a service station. The Honda Grace was subsequently flagged by JamaicaEye as part of the investigation.
On Friday, July 10, the Honda Grace, driven by Brown, was intercepted by police. He was arrested on reasonable suspicion and placed in custody at the Kingston Central Police Station.
Last Saturday, July 11, Brown was interviewed in the presence of his attorney and was subsequently charged with Larceny of Motor Vehicle and Unauthorised Access to Computer Data.
