Hanover Police Seek Gunmen After Hopewell Businessman Robbed of Cash and Firearm
Hanover detectives based at the Hopewell Police Station are searching for two gunmen after a Saturday afternoon robbery left a local businessman without more than $500,000 in cash and his licensed firearm.
Police reports say the attack happened about 4:30 p.m. after the 64-year-old man reached one of his businesses at the junction of Crab Wood Road and Gravel Lane. He operates several Supreme Ventures Cash Pot shops, bars and gaming lounges across Hopewell and nearby communities.
Investigators say two men carrying heavy-calibre weapons and pistols confronted him shortly after he arrived. They reportedly took him into the business, where staff members were also kept under weapon threat.
The attackers stole the cash and the businessman’s firearm before escaping on foot through a gully close to the premises. The police say enquiries continue as they try to establish the men’s identities and take them into custody.
